A Vintage Merrick Thread Cabinet for my Valdani Threads!

I picked this SWEET vintage Merrick thread cabinet up at Renningers Antique Extravaganza last Spring and it has been sitting here waiting to be cleaned up and put back to use!  It is so well worn and loved but looks great it in its fresh new coat of linseed oil!
Just look at those brass knobs all wobbly and loose!
(I see I missed a spot of oil rubbing by the top left knob!)

The ink well flip is to die for....... and it comes with its won pencil/pen groove!  Oh, I forgot..... my friend Ree gifted me with a vintage ink pen which I must put in place!

The top is covered with leather which is certainly showing its age but I can only imagine the stories it could tell!

The slant lid flips up to expose a wonderful large area to house the patterns I will be filling with the wonder Valdani Threads!  The lid is held up with a flip up stick that is attached to the left side of the box!

Isn't it amazing how the look of aged wood makes us all warm and happy inside!  It makes the perfect new home for all my threads!

Just another step on trying to organize my work area! I still have a long way to go!
Thanks for stopping by and enjoy your day!

Boldt Castle on Heart Island in the 1000 Islands

What a fun place to visit! I wasn't sure what to expect when my sister said we were going to see a castle built back in the 1900's! I never realized how much history went along with it either!  It was the highlight of my mini vacation!
You ride a ferry to the island and can spend a whole day walking around the island learning and imagining what it was like to live like the wealthy back in the 1900's!
Oh the beautiful architecture!!!
I feel in love with these doors!
They were found on one of the structures called the Playhouse!

I found the playhouse to be so intriguing!

And just look at these window"s!!! They were amazing!

This was the Power House for the castle!  Two views as we circled Heart Island.

A gazebo to enjoy the fresh air!

The front view of the Playhouse and the  entrance to Heart Island back in the 1900's! Excuse the glare of the window on the ferry!

If you would like to read more on the love story of  Boldt castle, see some awesome photos of the castle and the whole island they have a website which can be found here!!  I didn't take any direct shots of the castle because I knew my photograph would not show any where near the beauty of an aerial shot!  So you must check out the website!

PSS Retreat in Williamsburg, VA!

I think I'm finally rested up from a most wonderful weekend in Williamsburg, VA!
I was so fortunate to attend the 1st Annual Prim Stitchers Society retreat and Merchant Mall!
To top it off my two daughters and daughter in law went along with me!  They had a great time taking a punching class with Kathy Barrick and a cross stitch class with Lori Brechlin!  I could not have managed the booth without them on Friday and Saturday!
Here are a few shots of my wares I had to offer and some wonderful handmades from a few of the PHM gals!
Our Booth

We had the best vending neighbors!
To the right was Lori Brechlin of Notforgotten Farm!
To the left we had Faye Riggsbee of Carolina Stitcher!
Our punch needle project by Kathy Barrick!
That's me on the left, Carley (DIL), Steph & Britt (Daughters)
and Kathy is seated!
And here we are with our "Huswife Pocket" we made in Lori Brechlin class! Such a fun time!
Wish I would have taken more pictures! It was so nice meeting many new friends!
Looking forward to the retreat next year in Atlanta, GA!

April Offerings on PHM!

My new "treasures" for the PHM April updates!
I stitched a framed sampler using a design by Stacy Nash called "Malabar Farm".
Had some fun with my newest pattern titled "Folk Art Sheep".  I punched,  hooked and appliqued it!   The pattern is available in my Etsy shop for the punch needle size which you can resize to hook or punch until I get patterns written up for both!
Also, offering some new scissor keeps! A fun little wool applique!
Be sure to check out all the artist pages!

PHM Update Tonight!

It's that time again! Where do the days go?!?!
I've been busy adapting my punch needle pattern into a hooked rug, hooked washboard insert and a wool appliqued pillow!
Be sure to scroll through all the pages and see what each artist has created! You won't be disappointed!
I also appliqued this sweet pocket using a drawing by Robin Leuschen of Bird in the Hand Primitives!
Last but not least... my husband made this reproduction screen wood tray for me!  I added a hooked sunflower for a simple display!!!
Thanks for stopping by!
