Some new handmades on PHM!

I'm down to crunch time preparing for the upcoming shows!  They don't start until the second weekend in August but it will be here before we know it! The first one is the Lititz Rotary Club Craft Show.  My daily and weekly goals are set to help achieve the amount of inventory I need!
At the same time its a challenge to create something new each month for the awesome group over at Primitive Handmades Mercantile!  If you haven't check us out lately you really should!  So many wonderful hand mades again this month!
Here is what I have to offer!  It's been fun creating the primitive hooked rugs! Just can't seem to get enough wool lately!  Click here to go right to my page!

This burlap pillow was a big hit on Facebook! I was very excited to see how many "likes" it received!  Guess that tells me I need to hook a few more in this style for the shows!  It you haven't found my business page on Facebook yet please do!  Here is the link which will take you directly to my page and be sure to hit the Follow or Like button!  I post lots of pictures as new "treasures" are created!
Happy First day of Summer!  Enjoy the Super Moon this weekend!

Bridal Shower for Carley!

On Saturday I hosted a bridal shower for my son's fiancĂ©e Carley! I didn't take enough pictures as usual but here are a couple!
My daughters Steph and Britt did most of the work!  I was just the cook in a bit of a frenzy right before everyone arrived!
We didn't set up outside until the last minute because it had rained hard for a couple of days and we weren't sure it was over!
We had a mimosa bar!  Such a colorful display!

Used crates and sunflowers at the end of the tents for the gifts!

Here are our guests hard at work on a game!

I have no idea why I didn't take any pictures of Carley opening her gifts! Here is a picture of the picture they had taken for their engagement. The day was snowing and freezing!

All the decorations and games were found on Pinterest! What have we done without Pinterest all these years!
Have a great day!

Memorial Weekend Project!

What unusual weather we have been having! I'm sure you all agree!  Freezing one day and frying the next! No different this weekend with lots of sun but a chill in the air.  We still made the best of it!   We arrived at our cabin late Saturday morning and the temp was only about 64 degrees but with the sun shining it did help with the spirits. It dropped to 34 degrees that night! It is the end of May.... right?!?!?
It was so nice to have a 3 day break from crafting but guess what!  The creative mind just never sleeps!  I was taking note to all the grapevine hanging from the trees so before I knew it we were gathering it up.  With a little bit of twisting and wiring we completed the arched trellis.  On Monday we completed the 4 with the straight pieces which go a lot quicker.  Hope to have a few more ready by the time the craft shows roll around!

It may be hard to pick the vines out of the trees but this is what we started with.

Until next time! Enjoy your day!

Some new "treasures" on PHM!

I think Spring has finally set in!  A few warm days in a row sure does make a difference in ones mental mood! LOL  It's amazing what a person can accomplish after spending some time in the fresh outdoors with a warm breeze!  It's been long overdue!

Just a quick note! This month for the PHM update I'm offering another sweet little child's folding chair with a hooked rug!  It has a nice blue background with a tan and brown beehive, tan ABC's and 123!

Be sure to stop over and check out all the pages of PHM!  We have a great group of artists in one place!!!

You can find my page here!

Enjoy your weekend!!  I'm headed to Virginia for a bridal shower today! Looks like a perfect day out with my daughter and soon to be daughter in law!

New Finds and a late Happy Mother's Day!

Yesterday my husband surprised me with an afternoon of antique and flea market hopping! Always a fun day!
I found another child's folding chair to hook a rug for and this awesome dirty old table!  Not sure if I will offer the table with a penny rug or a hooked rug!  I'm thinking a penny rug would be more suitable.  What do you think?
Both will be cleaned up, fixed up and packed away for craft show inventory!

What inspires you to create?

I love going to visit my mom! Her home is filled with antiques and wonderful primitive displays. It's funny how things inspire us to create something new!  I love this little carpenters box and just had to snap a picture!  I usually take my camera with me but I forgot it! Fortunately, my phone was able to capture the appeal of this little treasure!
I posted it on Facebook and someone said they used something like this for their wool strips while hooking a rug!  The little bulb came on!!!!!  Yes, it would be perfect for keeping the colors separated while hooking!  My husbands woodworking list just got longer! I need one of these a bit larger than this antique piece!
Please share what type of things inspired your last creation!!!  I would love to hear about it!!!

Woolen Willow Quilting/Rug Hooking Retreat pictures!

I returned home yesterday from a fun filled long weekend in Blackwater Falls State Park located in Davis, West Virginia! It started out Thursday morning with a 2 hour drive on the PA Turnpike to the Somerset exit to pick up Margie of Hungry Hook Primitives!  Margie has been an online friend for about a year now so it was so nice to finally meet her in person.

In another 2 hours we landed in WV only to find a little antique junk shop with some wonderful chairs stacked on the porch among a bunch of clutter. They were all wet so I didn't want to purchase them only to keep them in my car for 3 full days. Hoping I could stop on the way home to make a "deal" for them I left them sit. I was so excited when I returned and they were still there. The well faded tags read $30.00 each but Margie was sure he told me $20.00 each when I asked him on Thursday! Being fairly new to making good deals I was so happy she suggested asking $50.00 for all 3 because he accepted!

I have a brother who canes chairs so he is willing to help me out with that part!  I love the chippy paint that is left on them so the only other thing they need is a good cleaning.  They will make a great addition to the up coming shows this season with a hooked rug mat!

We arrived early at the Blackwater Falls Lodge but our room was ready so we were able to move in! The sky was so blue that day! This picture is quite deceiving because we were on top of a mountain surrounded by trees, rhododendron, water falls and lots of deer. A huge stony lots of trees valley was behind the lodge. What a beautiful view it was!
This is just one of the several Falls in the area.

This was very close to the lodge. I was standing on a bridge looking down over the edge with shaking knees! That is not a fallen tree limb you see there that is a BIG tree which fell.  Pictures just can't show the size of this drop off!
This is on the opposite side of the bridge I was standing on. You can see the rhododendron up close which was everywhere. Sure will be beautiful when they bloom.  Hoping to get back and see them.
It was such a pleasure meeting Jeni from The Woolen Willow and her family! I'm so sad I didn't get more pictures of them. They did a great job organizing the retreat and making us feel welcomed! Just look at the size and beauty of this rug Jeni is hooking!

Sally and Jeni just 2 of the 4 sisters who organized the retreat.

These two lovely tables were set up for our shopping pleasure! Wool, wool kits, quilt patterns and other goodies.

One half of the room!
And the other!

Gretchen of The Woolen Willow and her mother Mary with a show and tell of their pieced quilt top!
Love this Uncle Sam hooked piece!  I'm so sad I forget this nice ladies name!  I'm on a quest to find out who she is!
Here are all the goodies I came home with!!! Can you believe it!  I won a bingo game and the jelly roll of wool was one of the door prizes. Look at the quilted mat and the sweet little coin purse which each of us received! So cute! The mustard bundle there in the bottom right hand corner  I purchased from Margie of Hungry Hook Primitives.  She has so many beautiful colors available on her blog!

Oh yes! Can't forget the huge hot fudge sundae I ordered one evening! That dish has a 6 inch diameter and was full!  I shared some with two other people before I snapped the picture! It was delicious!!!

Some of Margie's wool stash and the sweet sheep rug she was working on!

I still have more pictures and stories to tell but so tired!  I'm still trying to catch up on my sleep! Not use to those late night chats! LOL   I will show you the rug I hooked on another day along with more pictures!
