Merry Christmas!!!

WOW!!! It's so hard to believe that Christmas Day is almost here!!! I hope this short post finds you well and in good spirits!

It has been so dark and gloomy here in PA for the past WEEK! I'm so anxious for the sun to pop out again. I don't ever remember a December like this.
I'm busy switching my EzShoppe over to a new website so a Grand Re-Opening will take place sometime in January!  Working on some new "treasures" for the event and have lots of primitive wood appliance covers painted up and ready to ship! They aren't just for the kitchen anymore!  If you are a rug hooker I might have one for you! As soon as the sun decides to show its face again I will be taking pictures to share!
Until then.................. keep smiling!!!

A new little pouch!

I had fun punching this Father Christmas design by Robin of Bird In The Hand Primitive! I added it
to black wool to create the primitive pocket! The back of the pouch is the same black wool I used on the front and also to make the strap. It is lined with my favorite piece of mustard flannel with tiny dots in different colors.

A close up of the punched design!

Primitive Handmades Mercantile Update

Updates are now available over at PHM!  You won't want to miss them!
Several of us used Robin's Bird in the Hand Primitives doodle to create one of our offerings for this month!  The doodle is a Father Christmas Santa and simply prim perfect!
This is just one reason why you should be signed up for our newsletter because each month Robin graciously donates a free drawing for you to punch, hook, paint, stitch or applique!  This is also the doodle which our newsletter subscribers received today!  We are also having a $75.00 "Thank you" gift certificate drawing on Black Friday for one of our lucky newsletter subscribers to win! This is the second reason why you should be signed up for our newsletter!
Here is my wool appliqued mat or wall hanging I created for the challenge.

Here is what else listed today! I cross stitched a Santa, Joy and tree on a piece of prairie cloth and mounted it onto an old barrel stave!

I'm on a mission to find these little old brown crocks to make covers for!  I see a new display at my craft shows next year!  This one did sell but I have another identical crock here to create another one!

Remember last summer when I posted the stacks and stacks of unfinished wood appliance covers in my garage!  Well... the stacks are finally dewindling down! I've been painting and selling them at my shows all year and trying to find other uses for them!  I loved this old looking Christmas label so I placed it on this 2 slice toaster cover for a different look! A great hiding place suitable for any room!

I'm offering some of my mom's wonderful coverlet stockings this month too!  She has been busy busy busy stitching these up along with some of the cutest little mittens! Which I will show you! Love them in this old bowl!

She is selling these that are made from woven coverlet fabric for $2.50 each and oh so cute!!!

Just as cute are the cotton fabric ones which she sells for $2.00! If you need any for your little trees just email me!  They are about 2 3/4" in lenght! So cute!

Now back to PHM!!!  Check out the Pinterest board to see some updates from each shop all on one page! Thanks so much for stopping by!

I would like to take this time to wish everyone a safe and Happy Thanksgiving!!!

New updates on the Primitive Handmades Mercantile site today!  The ladies have created some wonderful pieces for Thanksgiving, Christmas and Wintertime so please stop by and check all of them out.  I put together a small set of stacking boxes with a traditional cross stitched pinkeep on the top box lid. Two little prairie cloth bags with cross stitched designs and a wool appliqued pillow. Find me here!  And check out this cute little child's folding chair!  I picked it up on Wednesday at a little shop when my sister and I were out for the day! Not sure what it is that draws me to small folding chairs but I guess you could say I collect them!  This makes number 4!

Craft Show Pictures

Here are some pictures of the last two shows I have attended! Four shows in the last 8 weeks has been a real challenge for me!  I really give the vendors that go week after week a big round of applause! I could never never do it!  This is a shot of the left side of the booth with a cute little shopper in there looking around.

This is the right side of the booth with my sister Christa and I working hard by the checkout table.  We had a new spot this year and we loved the little crab apple tree that provided a wonderful shade all day long!  Nice  weather kept the crowd out and about for the day!

This is the only picture I took inside the booth!  Every show I say I will take multiple shots but by the time we get everything set up the customers are beginning to shop.  My sister Linda cut some of her Black Eyed Susan's to put in the little bottles which added a cheery little touch to this space!

Two weeks ago we were at the Lititz Rotary Club Craft Show. My sister Christa and I leave early Friday morning and head to Lancaster for some shopping!  We never fail at getting lost but love every minute of finding our way back to where we wanted to go by roaming the back roads of Lancaster County!  Love the tunnels of tall corn fields, slowing down to the pace of the horse drawn buggies and amazed at the neatly planted tobacco fields being harvested!  This show is our most favorite one! My picture taking at the show was very limited and really the crafts were the same as my other ones so I won't bore you with those!  But here are some breath taking shots of the fun we had!

Now for a couple of days to regroup my craft supplies and then I will be back to work on orders and building inventory!  And................don't forget about the next Primitive Handmades Mercantile update on September 21st! There are still some wonderful handmades available on the pages so if you haven't stopped by..... please do!

Presque Isle State Park Craft Show Pictures

I returned home Monday from a wonderful 5 day trip to Erie, PA!  We left around 7:30am Thursday morning with an expected 5 hour trip which turned into a 7 hour trip!  We had to exit the PA turnpike due to an accident which toke us into Pittsburgh..........needless to say my husband was not real happy with the fact he needed to drive the box truck through all that traffic!  We were bumper to bumper for 45 minutes!  Then we were 40 miles from Erie and the sky became very very dark and tornado warnings were being broadcast over the radio for the county we were in! When the rain and wind started we pulled over to the side of the road as a tree branch was ripped from the trunk! Quite scary but it only lasted about 20 minutes!

Friday the weather forecast was calling for thunderstorms all day but we lucked out! It turned out to be a pretty nice day. Saturday morning we had a severe thunder storm right as we arrived to open up the booth. We couldn't even get out of the car! We could see the booth flooding with water.... 3 inches to be exact..... so we ran to a garden center to buy a bale of straw and until we returned an hour later the water had soaked into the ground leaving a very sandy compact gray mud. The straw worked out real well and thank goodness the vendors that do the show every year suggested the straw because I'm not used to that kind of soil. All I could think about was ankle deep mud when we were able to get into the tent but there was no muddy mess at all!
I guess the weather kept some vendors away because I had an empty space beside me so I was able to hang these cupboards on the outside wall to draw the customers in!
One side of the booth.
I put all the wood appliances covers on the back tables.
My sister was not able to go with me to this show and I sure did miss her!!!  My husband tried to help with the display but he sure does need some practice! I put him to work on decorating the tree and he did quite well.
The front corner.
This was the front view.
Since we didn't set up on Thursday evening we took a drive around the whole peninsula and stopped by one of the beaches.  It is sooooooooo pretty!
Learned a little bit about Presque Isle too!  Got to see the first lighthouse built there and these plaques were very interesting!

It will be a busy 2 weeks because the next show is the Lititz Rotary Club Craft Show on August 11, 2012 in Lititz , PA!

New Cupboard

Hello my blogging friends!
Hope everyone is enjoying their Summer!
The last few weeks have been hot and humid here in PA but it makes for a nice finish on my distressed prim pieces that Jeff is creating!  For some reason I love the look I get when I'm putting the finishing touches on these wood pieces.
I wanted to share this new cupboard that he made using an old 4 pane window.  He took the glass out and inserted some recycled window screen in its place.  I painted this one in Chestnut.  It worked well as a display piece for the show in Caledonia yesterday too!
Sorry this inside shot is a little blurry! I should have taken the time to check them out before I put the camera away.
I only had a 10' by 10' space at this show so we used the wood appliance covers for height instead of the wood crates.  It was a nice change.
This is such a beautiful location for a show!  Such a peaceful little stream!
The shot from the bridge looking towards the show.  Lots of trees, the smell of charcoal fires and the thrill of the kids wading in the stream creates a nice relaxing atmosphere!
We will be leaving for our next show in 11 days!!! Lake Erie here we come! Can't wait but have lots to finish up before next Thursday gets here!
Don't forget the Primitive Handmades Mercantile June update will be on Friday too! Our theme this month is Watermelon, Strawberries and Olde Thyme Toys!  Very interested to see if anyone comes up with something for olde thyme toys! Shall be an interesting update! Don't miss it!

New Primitive Wares!

Just a reminder that the new updates are posted on the Primitive Handmades Mercantile website! Lots of Patriotic handmades are available. This is what you will find on my page!  Stitcheries have been a big part of my inventory for the last 20 plus years!  It is so hard to believe I've been creating all that time.  The past 3 years I drifted away from the stitcheries but feel it is time to pick them back up!  I enjoyed designing and stitching these for the update!  The one on the bottom  is a design by Robin of Bird in the Hand Primitives.  Hope to have many more pinkeeps for my shows this year too!
Speaking of shows!  The first one is coming up fast!  July 14th I will be at Caledonia State Park! A beautiful location for a show!  Here is a link to the park! A fun day trip!
