Notforgotten Farm Antiques and Folk Art show 2013

What a fun weekend! I'm so excited I was finally able to attend the Notforgotten Farm Antique & Folk Art show and meet Lori and Peter Brechlin!  They make you feel right at home!
Arriving at the show for set up around 6:30am Saturday, in the dark and misty morning, was a bit unnerving since my husband was my help for the weekend!  My sister Christa is usually with me but couldn't make this one so I had a new "trainee" which makes for a longer set up time plus I wasn't able to take along many of my props since we traveled in a smaller truck! So this also takes more time trying to figure out what to put where!  To my surprise we were ready to go by 9am when the gates were opened!  He did quite well!

Despite the dreary feel of the day it never rained hard or stormed so we were quite lucky! Spirits were high and it just felt more like Fall! It was nice to meet some new online friends and have the opportunity to chat with so many of the customers! It was nice to meet Cindy of Mountain Hollow .......be sure to stop by her blog!

I'm going to start with pictures of Lori's shop!  Oh my gosh! Prim perfect!  I was only able to pop in for a short time because my husband wasn't comfortable taking care of customers.   I wanted to stop back and take some pictures of the inside after I asked permission but never had the chance to do it.  So, here are some pictures from the outside! So inviting!

 It was so nice of Lori to place me right beside Susan and Dorrie of Olde Threads on PHM .  They have been coming to the show for 5 years so were a big help to me! The donkey's visited us all day just 3 feet behind out tents! So cute!

It's almost show time!!!!

What a busy weekend I have in store! But I guess that is the way my life has been since the beginning of August! 

First we have our updates on PHM!  I managed to create 5 new Fall handmades while preparing for Lori Brechlin's show called Gathering of Primitive Friends which is this Saturday!!! 

Getting ahead of myself again!  Back to PHM Update! Here is a sneak peek of 2 of what I will be offering!  They will be available at Primitive Handmades Mercantile this evening at 9pm so be sure to stop by!  I have some hooked pumpkins and 2 new burlap pillows!  

 

 

Now for the show on Saturday!  I'm so excited to be among some wonderful primitive artists at the Gathering of Primitive Friends show in Amherst, VA! I'm busy packing up the truck and finishing up a couple of handmades! I will be sure to post some pictures when I return!  I hear the weather may be a bit chilly and wet!  Lets hope the weatherman has this one wrong!

 

Lititz Rotary Club Craft Show 2013

Another great craft show in Lititz, PA is here and gone!  Oh what a time!  I'm so lucky to have wonderful sisters who take time out of their busy lives to help me out! We pulled out Friday morning for a day of shopping and driving around the Lancaster area.  My niece was along this weekend so she was nice enough to take these pictures for me. 

We left the hotel room at 4:15am Saturday morning and finished unloading the truck by 5am! The next show I must take a picture of the boxed "treasures" and props covering the sidewalk. We fill it up! 

The weather was good to us!! The humidity was low!  The afternoon was a bit hot but we were able to move into the booth for shade.

The customers were plentiful and I was able to meet some new online followers along with chatting with my old friends!  Thanks to everyone that stopped by!

 

It is so funny after we are all set up I have some spots I love and some that just don't seem to have the look I want!   But time is always limited and we don't have time to make big changes so we deal with them!  This was my favorite spot for Lititz!  It could be those awesome chairs! LOL 

 My mom has been busy making the awesome coverlet stockings! We tried a different display using some old barn wood boards to hang them on but it needs some work before the next show, which will be the Shippensburg Corn Festival!

 I cut the wooden items out for the grapevine wreaths and my niece Becca painted and helped me put them together!  She was quite excited when half of them sold! I think I found a new helper!

 The trellis's made from grapevine were a big hit! One even found a new home in Wisconsin! Anxious to see how it traveled on its journey! Hopefully, Karen from KM Primitives will let us know!

 My sister Christa paints the barn wood signs on the bottom of this display. The black eyed Susan's looked nice in the little bottles I wired to old barnwood.

The not so fun part!!! Packing up! By this time we were hot and tired from the lack of sleep the night before and the excitement of the day! The show is over at 4 and we were pulling out of Lititz by 5:30pm.  

 

Now to get busy on more Fall items for the next show which is August 31st, Shippensburg Corn Festival! 

 

Lititz Rotary Club Craft Show!

The craft show in Lititz, PA is this Saturday! It's a big one and so much fun! The box truck is almost loaded and I'm looking forward to meeting some new online friends who are going to venture out!  Sure hope this cool weather sticks around so it can be a perfect day!

I wanted to share some of the things I finished up this week!  The little pumpkins on the wire were created using a pattern by T.F.C. Folk Art and the doll  is a pattern by Veena's Mercantile.    The hooked sunflower on burlap which I mounted on the barrel stave came out of my little old head!  Hope to get lots of these made up for the other upcoming shows and PHM!    Be back next week with some pictures! Okra Harvest!

My dad loves to garden and sure knows how to grow the Okra!!!  Freshly harvested and strung! Now lets hope the humidity stays away for a bit more so it dries  nicely!  If you remember I successfully dried some Okra I found in the grocery store over the Winter.  I was able to use the fan on our fireplace for a nice dry heat which worked great!  So I'm a bit nervous as to how it will dry this time of year!  Plus........ this Okra is so much larger!  The average size of the store bought Okra was 4 inches and smaller and when I went to my mom and dads yesterday to pick this .........to my surprise it ranges from 10 to 7 inches!!!  A few shorter ones in there but most are over 7 inches! Beautiful!

 

I was intrigued with the beautiful plants and blooms which grew the Okra! He purchased red and green seeds back in the Spring and had to replant half the crop a second time because they weren't growing! I wish I would have taken a long shot of the garden showing the whole row.  This is the green stock which probably stands about 3 feet. See the Okra growing there on the center stem of the plant?

The red stocks are really pretty.  You can see a bit of the whole row in this picture.  It went the whole way back to the sunflowers you can see there way in the back!

 

Look at this beautiful flower head that produces the Okra!  Such a pretty yellow with a black center!

Not sure this will be ready for my first show but I'm keeping my fingers crossed!  August 10th is the Lititz Rotary Club craft show and it is coming fast!  Back to work still have lots more "treasures" to create!

Exciting news!

Can you believe we are in the month of July already?!?!?  Time sure is flying by and the rest of my Summer is going to be so busy I'm sure it will past even quicker!  

 

 Let see!  The first bit of exciting news I have is I'm featured in a magazine called The Wool Street Journal!

Some other exciting news I would love to share is I'm going to be setting up my wares at a show on September 21st at Lori Brechlin of Notforgotten Farm's Gathering of Primitive Friends show! You can read all about it here on her blog! 

This will make the start of 4 weekends in a row of shows!!! A first for me so I'm busy busy busy stitching, sanding and painting inventory so I'm ready!

Some new handmades on PHM!

I'm down to crunch time preparing for the upcoming shows!  They don't start until the second weekend in August but it will be here before we know it! The first one is the Lititz Rotary Club Craft Show.  My daily and weekly goals are set to help achieve the amount of inventory I need!
