WOW!! What a great first week! Thanks to everyone who stopped by for a visit! Our group has grown so you may want to stop by for some last minute Valentine's Day shopping! My mom, Liberty Handmade Primitives, still has the wonderful old looking wood bowl with a great distressed finish and 3 hand made hearts available!

My Old Crow Primitives was late getting her items posted due to a power outage from a snow storm so stop by and check out her prim perfect hand mades!

Maureen from Sweet Meadow Farms was late getting her dolls listed due to the arrival of a beautiful new granddaughter! Congratulations Maureen! Her dolls are going fast!

Hooked Pillow and Pouch!

Yesterday I finished up another batch of Easter and Valentine Ornaments that I had orders for! Should have taken a picture of the numbers before I packed them all up! Guess I just wanted them in the mail so I could move on to something else! And.... that I did. Last evening I was able to work on finishing a couple of small hooked pieces that I hooked along with the Valentine Mat for Primitive Handmades Mercantile. I love pouches and pillows so I did one of each! Not bad for a beginner! I wasn't sure how to finish the edges where the hooked part meets the wool backing so I whipped a wool strip in there! Need to check with my friend Kathy at Woolfinds to see what the right way to do it is! Didn't turn out half bad for a beginner! I hand stitched both of them together and made a lining for the pouch.

Right before Christmas I received this wonderful Tin Punched Angel and the best smelling Cranberry Chutney Scented Primitive Pudka Pods from Marilyn at Harvest Moon Primitives! I feel bad I didn't get this posted until today! It's been quite busy around here and then I pinched a nerve in my neck that put me down for several days! Not fun at all!!!! I think what did it was a day of rug hooking! We shall see what happens when I pick up the hook today! Anyway... back to Marilyn she has two Etsy shops loaded with some great primitives! You must check them out! First is her Harvest Moon Prims shop and she also has Fanciful Stitches shop which is loaded with wonderful hand work items! And.... don't forget her blog where I won the cute punched tin angel and scented pods! She has some free patterns on there too!

Announcement & Christmas Displays!

Hello all my blogging friends!!! Hope you had a blessed Christmas and lots of time to spend with your family and friends!
First for my big announcement!!!!! I'm so excited about a new group I'm putting together, with the help of Robin from Bird in the hand Primitives, we are bringing together some of our favorite rug hookers, penny rug makers, cross stitchers, primitive doll makers and pattern designers! We will launch our new site on January 20Th.... so be ready! Each month we will have new listings with a theme for your viewing pleasure! Our first month offerings will be for Valentine's Day!
And .....When I went to see my mom I took some pictures of a couple of her Christmas displays. Wish I would have taken more time for other shots but you know how that goes! She has quite the touch with using her antique and prim pieces to create an eye pleasing picture!

I love this old chippy chair and the mohair bear was made by my sister! Her Christmas tree is a fraser fir.... my favorite! My dad picked these red berries!!! I need to find that bush next year real early so I can enjoy some of them in my home! They are so full! My favorite wall in the kitchen! Wishing you all a very Happy New Year!!!

A trip to the Wool Shop!

Still winding down from last weeks home show! Everything went real well and I was more than pleased with the turnout! I took a couple of days off to do some much needed shopping and was more than pleased to meet up with Michele and Kathy at the wool shop, located at 240 Grant Street in Chambersburg, PA, to return their few items that did not sell. Kathy works at this shop and every Thursday they have a hook-in where everyone is welcome and you can bring along anything you would like to work on! They are open 10am to 10pm! Just take a look at this inspiring place! As you enter the room there is a hospitality table with a beautiful rug hanging above it! Not sure who hooked it but it sure is a beauty!

A wonderful Sheep rug hangs over a cute antique cupboard and lots of other goodies! Look at the wool nestled in there!

You will find walls and walls of hand dyed wools in so many beautiful colors!

A cute hooked mat that Kathy designed and I think she said she does sell the pattern!

More wool and to the right.... a wall of needle punch patterns! I had to bring one of those home!

Here is Michele busy working on a new needle punch design! Two crows and a flower! I'm sure she has it almost done by now! LOL Right Michele!

This is Kathy working on her saltbox house rug! Follow her blog to watch how quick she will finish this huge rug! It is going to be soooooooooo pretty!

This is Joann finishing off the edges of all these mats and chair pads! Look how fast her hands are moving! LOL!!! Love love love the primitive look of her work! I need to find out if Joann has a blog!

And...........here is my chair pad that I finally got started! Now to keep working on it! I do have some orders to finish up before that happens but at least it is started!

Day one of Home Show!

10:00am rolled around real fast this morning while I was trying to finish up all those last minute things for the home show! I was very disappointed when I stepped out onto the porch to decorate my twig tree and the wind was blowing so hard! Things were blowing over and I didn't want ornaments all through the yard so the tree stood bare today! Hopefully tomorrow will be a nice calm day! Here are few shoots I managed to take! Tomorrow I will take some pictures of all the different ornaments we have available!

The towels and stockings are made by my mom and the fabrics are prim perfect!

The antique bookcase holds bunny and summer things.... plus a basket of mice!

My new wool appliqued framed pictures, dried pineapples and some cute little ornaments made by my friend Michele.

An antique washstand holds the pinkeeps and above it hangs a spice rack. Need to get more spice tins made up!

1st Annual Primitive Christmas Home Show

My first home show will be held November 4th, 5th and 6th from 10am until 7pm on Friday and Saturday and 2pm to 6pm on Sunday! So to all my local friends bring your friends and stop on by! I'm busy creating lots of ornaments and painting some new wood pieces for the occasion!

On Saturday I finished up with my outdoor shows for the year so now I can concentrate on my very first home show! I'm so excited to welcome everyone into my simple little home! I also wanted to share this awesome new pinkeep I have made using a pattern by Brenda Gervais! I simply love her work and have some new sewing rolls in the works as well! 3 New Patterns Now Available!

For the past 3 weeks I have been dealing with a pain in my back! It would just come and go as it pleased and some days I found myself pushing to get things done! Well... today I think the doctor has figured out what my problem is! I'm getting older! LOL Along with that I was working real hard helping Jeff finish up a HUGE wholesale order of 180 wood appliance covers... yes! You read that right!!!!! 180 pieces that needed my special sanding technique applied! As Jeff would complete 20 or 30 at a time I would use the sander .................guess what it did to me after a week or two of evening sanding! Pulled the rhomboid muscle in my upper back! Not a fun thing! Just glad we found out what the problem is and I have a good excuse to take it easy! But....... not for long because these appliance covers are sitting in my garage, which by the way looks like a mini warehouse, waiting to be painted! I will post some pictures below! So yesterday I started working on patterns because typing at the computer is easy on the back! Finished up these 3 patterns which can be purchased right here on my side bar or at The Prim Pattern site or Crafty Avenue! The first one is A new Prim Pillow Pocket for Winter of a snowman holding a star overhead and the saying "Warm Winter Wishes"!

Next we have another Prim Pillow Pocket of a Pot of Penny Flowers!

4 different designs for Winter Time Ornaments! Two with stitched words which read "Warm Winter Wishes" and "Let it Snow", one with an appliqued snowman head and a mini snowman!

Now for the mini warehouse pictures! These are double stacked and we have 2 slice toaster covers, 4 slice toaster covers, toaster oven covers, Kitchen Aide mixer covers, coffee maker covers and some bread boxes! All waiting for me to paint! WOW.... my back hurts! LOL Take note to the Sweet Annie strung across the garage............I hung that clothesline myself which wasn't an easy chore.... if I recall I twisted my back a bit when trying to do that a couple of weeks ago!

Lititz Craft Show Pictures

It was a perfect day for a show up until 3:40pm and then it started to rain! Lots of happy shoppers were out in the morning and well into the afternoon! Too bad we had to end it so abruptly with only 20 minutes to go! I was able to meet a couple more online friends which was real nice! I wanted to show these cupboards before I left for the show but was too busy to take the pictures so here they are in the booth! Jeff did a fine job making these using old 3 pane windows as the doors. One in New England red.....

I usually don't get a good shot of the whole booth because we are still setting things up when the crowd begins but we got started by 5:00am and were done in good time this year!

This is what we were dealing with at 4:15.....Can you see the water running down the side of the curb?!?!? And this was a low point! Not fun standing in water up to your ankles with the thunder roaring! At one point these totes were floating! Luckily the wind did not pick up and destroy the tents! Despite the unhappy ending we had a great show and good time.

Pictures from the show on Saturday in Caledonia State Park! It was a rain free day with just a touch of humidity and lots of sunshine! The crowd was down a little from last year which wasn't a good thing for the afternoon hours but I had a nice relaxing day once we were all set up! I had 3 of my sisters and a niece with me so we had a great visit! I now know what I need to work on for the next show which is the Lititz Rotary Club in Lititz, PA! Happy Summer everyone!!!
The Caledonia State Park Craft Show will be held July 9th in Fayetteville, PA! I still have lots to finish up but just had to share this primitive display piece my hubby helped me build for my new blackened beeswax ornies! I had this piece of old picket fence and Jeff made a box with some old cedar pieces and put dividers in it so I can line the bagged ornies up. Great way to keep them all organized in one place and have the samples hanging for all to see!

New Summer items!

Good morning my blogging friends! I'm busy creating inventory for my first show which will be Saturday, July 9th at Caledonia State Park in Fayetteville, PA! Here are two new "treasures" I've been working on using a pattern by Kentucky Primitives! Love the little mice and watermelon's for Summer decorating! Check out the "Swingin' cats wool tweed pants and his little friend with the hanky scarf! And how about those little watermelon floats with 3 of the sweetest little mice hitching a ride! I did make one extra of each of these to add to my Etsy shop for my online friends! The watermelon float will not be added until tomorrow because I see I forgot to add their banner.......we can't have a missing piece can we?!?!

Last but not the least I will be posting this "Patriotic Mouse" in a stocking on Saturday, June 4th! This is a very special piece for me because my mom and I designed it and created it together! The pattern was featured in the Mercantile Gathering Summer 2011 issue which makes it even more special! Plus.... I have entered it in the OFG Flag Day Challenge which will begin Saturday, June 4th so be sure to stop by the OFG blog and place a vote!

A Visit with Online Friends and a Huge Giveaway!

Yesterday I had the pleasure of spending the day with Denise AKA Krazy Kraft Lady! We started the day out with a visit to the Brickhouse Craft Shop in Millersburg, PA. Patti had the shop all spruced up and looking like Spring! I just loved this barrel she had sitting on the porch of the shop! She did a wonderful job painting it this prim perfect blue! Inside you can see all the cute bunnies and flowers she has displayed so nicely! Had to do a little twisting of the arms to get this next picture but I did it! Two special ladies there!!!
Our next stop was Hornings Store which is a huge gift and bulk food store. I picked up some Santa molds for more blackened beeswax creations and fresh ground peanut butter! Yum... it is so good. Then we stopped at the Meadowbrook Gourd Farm and finished off the day with a late lunch at Panera Bread! It's so nice to get out and enjoy the day with friends!!!

These pictures are long over due!!! A few weeks back I did a bonnet swap with Lecia from Farmhouse Prims! I just love the calico fabric she used for the bonnet! It fits right in my kitchen!! Thank you so much Lecia!
And then Sarah from All Roads Lead Home wanted some gourd eggs which was real easy for me to run to the gourd farm and pick them up!!! It didn't seem fair that she had to work so hard to create these wonderful salt dough bowl fillers! They are sooooooo cute!!! When I returned home this afternoon from an eye doctors appointment and working out I found a wonderful little surprise on my doorstep! The mailman had delivered two packages for me! The one I was expecting which were my blue salsa dishes I ordered from Indian Trail Pottery! Aren't they the cutest things! They match the rectangular tray I bought at their last open house just perfectly! Can't wait to use them! I think Tarrah may be selling pottery on her blog and you can also find it at the Brickhouse Craft Shop in Millersburg, PA!
The second little surprise was a gourd from Meadowbrook Gourd farm... the sweetest little gourd and little note thanking me for visiting their shop this past year! Now is that customer service or what!?!?

Blackened Beeswax Ornies!!

I've been playing in wax!!! This is something I never tried before and finding out it can be a little messy but the end result is well worth it! I just love the blackened beeswax look! I was fortunate enough to find a local beekeeper who can supply me with the raw beeswax! I clean, dye, pour and spice them up! Well..... my husband has been a little bored since the cold weather set in so he has been helping! I found some of the most wonderful colonial looking molds from Sharon of Homespun Heart Primitives which really got me interested in making these for my craft shows! Also using some soap molds my mom had and found some antique looking candy molds of bunnies! Here are some pictures of what I have made up so far! These are little 3" bunnies that I was able to put a rusted wire hanger on so you can hang them on a tree or they do stand alone.

This is a 6" Easter bunny which will stand alone!

Some new dolls!

I haven't made any dolls lately, so when Patti from Brickhouse Crafts tagged one of my dolls she had in her shop, it caught the eye of two wonderful ladies who had to have one! That's all I needed to get me motivated. On Friday I started 10 and yesterday I finished them up! It was a fun photo shoot! What gets you motivated????

The orders were for the ones holding the snowmen and I was thinking Spring for some of them!

Finished my first Hooked Rug!!!

FINALLY!!! Years ago for a Christmas gift, my husband purchased this rug as a kit! Meaning the strips were already cut and all I needed to do was begin hooking! I started out using a large hoop but it soon became hard to keep it tight so I put it away for a while! A couple of years later he purchased me a nice hooking frame so I was able to get back to work! No more excuses.... right! It still took me a couple of years........ only getting it out to work on during the winter and in between crafting!

If it wasn't for Kathy~Rugs of Mine... in Time I still probably wouldn't have it finished!!! I found her blog about a year ago and noticed she lived in a nearby town and was talking about a hook-in at a local wool shop!!! Oh my gosh I found heaven!!! The place is Grant Street WoolWorks in Chambersburg, PA! Kathy works there and every Thursday they have a hook-in! Linda, the owner and Kathy are so helpful and willing to share their expertise on hooking!!! I had no idea if I was doing this hooking correctly .......so it was so nice to be able to take it to them and get advice! Kathy showed me how to finish the edges and I'm very thankful for that!! The designer of the rug is Laurice Heath and it was dated 2000!

I hope to make more time for myself this year and attend more hook-ins so my next project doesn't take as long to complete! With the help of Kathy I picked out some of the wonderful wools in the shop and have the strips ready to go!

I'm going to make a chair pad for this antique rocking chair that has been in my husbands family for a long time! I'm going to design this one myself so hopefully it won't take too long to get started! I will keep you posted!!!

I was so excited when the mailman knocked on my door today!! I wanted something to hold my wool strips for rug hooking and found the perfect basket from 1803 Ohio Farm Baskets ! I just love the shape and look of this basket! Comes with the nice sheep wool label mounted on a piece of wood! Thanks so much Ann!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!And.....I might add she has super quick shipping!!!

I hope this post finds you all rested from the Holiday season and refreshed for a new and prospers year ahead!!! It's been a long time since I made a post! I wanted to share some of my mom's wonderful antiques. Last year I made her a calendar using pictures of her beautiful antique displays and she really enjoyed it so I had to do the same for her this year! Here are a few pictures I used! The summer issue of the Mercantile Gathering magazine will be featuring her story too so be sure to watch for that! She has been anxiously awaiting for a year now to have it published!

This is my most favorite cupboard and one of her first pieces she purchased!

She loves blue........as you can see with this shelf, bowls and really old drying rack! The prairie bonnet is one of mine made from my most favorite piece of blue fabric!

I need to find out the story on this rocking horse.... I think it was hers when she was little but I'm not sure! I know years ago they had it painted and she really wishes she hadn't done it! It still is a beauty!

And one more blue piece.......a beautiful blanket chest!

Here are some lily pads my dad planted last year in the pond. My brother-in-law put some carp in pond and we think they ate them because this past summer they didn't grow!

Shippensburg Corn Festival Craft Show Pictures

Two shows in one month is way more than I can handle!!! Not really sure how those crafters that go every weekend do it! It was so nice setting up the booth on Saturday morning!!! The humidity was gone and the temperature was in the low 60's... we actually had jackets on! This was a first in many many years!!! All was going well until my big old barn door came crashing down on the back of my leg!!! Ouch..............it hurt!!! After a few tears and the stinging stopped I finished unpacking the truck!!! It just hurts to touch it but the whole back of my leg is going to be one big black and blue mark! Okay......enough whining about me! LOL It was a perfect summer day so lots of happy people and shoppers filled the streets of Shippensburg!!! I did manage to get some pictures of the booth but totally forgot to get my camera out when Lori (TheBlackCrow) and Wanda a new friend on Facebook stopped by! If I only had a brain! LOL
I had two of my sisters helping me set up...... Linda and Christa worked on the Christmas corner and the ornament tree which I was real happy with which is the first picture here.

The Halloween stockings here on the right of this picture were a big hit this year so I do need to get busy and make more of them for the next show in October.

Back to work today after spending yesterday with friends! I entertained 4 wonderful ladies to a day of crafting, laughing (real hard at times) and eating! Caught myself chuckling a few times today just thinking about our time together!

Anyway.... I managed to finish up some new Fall and Winter items! The first is "Primitive Halloween Party Jack in the Moon! I used a really cute pattern by Blue Moon Beginnings to create this door greeter! He is listed in my Etsy Shop for $22.95 if you can't live without him! If you don't Etsy you can order here in this post!

Next I have a 9 1/2" by 9 1/2" primitive star snowman ornie. This one is made from 100% wool and listed in my Etsy Shop for $12.95. I'm also making these with fabric which will be painted and stained more prim. This picture does appear to make him brighter than what he is in person.... the face is an off white wool and all the pieces have been stained. I used a pattern by Crows Roost Prims to create this ornie or door greeter!

Hope you all are enjoying the hot hot humid summer!!! I sure could do without the humidity!!!!
There is so much going on right now but first I want to show you some craft show pictures! The show was last Saturday at Caledonia State Park and after a week of 100 degree temps, high humidity, and the forecast calling for thunderstorms all day Saturday.............I was dreading even going!!! Fortunately, it rained in the wee hours of the morning..... and of course while we were setting up..........and you know what rain does for the hair-do????? Anyway, it turned out to be a beautiful, cool, sunny day with no humidity!!! Unfortunately the crowd was way down so my sales could have been better!!! Here are a couple of pictures from my booth!

Next I want to share some new happenings over at the A Primitive Journey forum! Diane is starting chapters in all the US states for you to join! You will get together every month with a group in your area and share in crafting, eating, shopping and enjoying the company of others with similar interests! Stop by the forum to learn more! I will be the director for the Harrisburg/Lancaster area and we already have 10 members and will be meeting August 21st for the first time!

I also want to start promoting my next show which is August 14th!!! It is a huge show in Lititz, PA near Lancaster called The Lititz Rotary Club Craft Show ! It consumes the whole town so you can't miss it! You will find over 700 vendors and my space number is E 4-5! So please let me know if you are coming............I would love to meet you!

Prairie Apron and a Blue Mason Jar

My working hands are now creating aprons for your primitive home! I started out with this wonderful mustard, black and tan checkered homespun fabric. It hangs a little over 29" with 26" ties. I hand stitched a pocket in place which is made from osnaburg. On the pocket I appliqued a wool sunflower which I created from a beautiful piece of hand dyed wool. You can purchase them from my Etsy shop or just send me a message.
I also wanted to share a really nice piece for your kitchen that my mom created! She sent some of these along to my show last month and they were the first sale of the day! That is always a fun thing for my sister and I to see who has the first sale! Love it!

A Day at Brickhouse Crafts

Yesterday I had the pleasure of spending the day with some good friends!!! Michele BriarPatchPrimitives arrived at my house around 8:30am and we headed up to Patti's Brickhouse Crafts for a craft day and drop off some new things for her shop! What a perfect day to spend with friends! Nice humid free day and a beautiful breeze! Just look at Patti's flowers and her shop porch! So relaxing and inviting!
Also to arrive was Tarrah from The Pottery Shed! I don't know how I did it but I failed to take a picture of Tarrah stirring her sugar cakes............which was a hard job for her because she was suffering with a stiff neck! Hope you are feeling better today Tarrah!!! Not sure what Patti thought of us dropping by to mess up her kitchen! Yikes! After making 2 batches of Sugar Cakes we took a break for lunch! Patti prepared the most beautiful salad........I forget what she called it because when I found out it was TUNA I was freaking out in my mind! You see.... I really don't care for tuna so I was trying to figure out how I was going to eat it! Not only that..... when I looked at her homemade dressing it had some lumps in it and I was so afraid it may be bleu cheese and I can't eat that at all! I prayed real hard as I took my first bite that I would like it!!! Guess what?!?!? It was rather tasty!!! I did not confess until we were half way through our meal that I was a little frightened when I found out it was TUNA! Thank goodness the dressing was not bleu cheese and it was delicious!!! I'm happy to say I cleaned my plate! Thank you so much Patti for the lovely lunch!
After lunch we whipped up two more batches of Sugar Cakes! It's funny how all 4 batches turned out a little bit different in texture! Here is Michele stirring her pot!
After lots of good laughs and chatting we each went home with some new Sugar Cakes and left Patti's house smelling like brown sugar and cinnamon!

Craft Show Pictures!

The past 3 days have been so very busy!!! It all started on Friday morning as I started to carry all my props and boxed crafts up from the basement into the garage for loading!

Around 10:30am I left for the PA State Track & Field meet to watch my niece, Laura Loht win the AAA title for the javelin throw!!! It was sooooooooo exciting and I'm so proud of her!!!

After the track meet we loaded the truck and then I went for groceries and never returned home until 7:30pm! An hour later my brother and sister-in-law arrived for the weekend. Didn't get to bed until 11:00pm.
Woke up Saturday morning at 3:30am to be on the road by 4:30am and traveled 2 hours to the show.

It was a hot and humid day but no rain!!! The crowd was down and we had more lookers than buyers which made the sales a little less than last year. Returned home around 8:00pm totally exhausted!

On Sunday we had a picnic so I skipped church to get ready for that! Had a great time with friends and family.... lots of water balloons were flying to cool us off.

Today I'm relaxing and staying indoors to stay cool!!!

Country Memories Day Craft Show!

Hello blogger friends!!!! It's been a while.............nice weather, son home from college, inventory to build and still only 24 hours in a day! Next Saturday I will be heading off to my first show of the year! It is in McVeytown, PA so if you live nearby I would love to meet you! Sure hope the weather decides to be nice. Two years ago it ended in a very bad thunderstorm and collapsed one of my tents! The joys of outdoor shows!
It's amazing how quickly the weeks pass when you have so much to finish up! Here are some new towels I created with a wool pocket to hang from the two drawer wooden shelf that Jeff made. I also needed something for a Summer Celebration that our OFG Etsy team has coming up so I made these for both events!
Not only do I have one week to finish up lots of crafts I have started but yesterday I picked up a box truck (which I needed for a long time) that needs lots of love and cleaning. It will be so nice having all this room to transport my wares!!!!

I need everything ready to go by Thursday because on Friday I will be attending the PA State Track and Field competition to watch my niece compete for the state title in the javelin throw! She won the title in her sophomore year, last year struggled with the pressure but this year she is back in great shape! Good luck Laura!!!

It turned out to be a beautiful day here in PA!!! After a day of storms and dreary rain the sun is now out nice and bright! I took the time this morning to finish up another new design for a 3" paper mache box in applique, needlepunch and stitchery!!!

You will receive step by step directions in creating this design in needle punch, stitchery, applique and how to cover the box in fabric as well! The design pictures a sheep and stars on a field of grass. Think of the cute ornaments, framed mini's, pillows and more you could create with it. The pattern includes pictures along with the written directions for covering the box.

Finished a needlepunch project!

I punched this months ago and it has been waiting patiently for me to finish it!!! It is my very first punched piece so I will be using it in my home! There are so many things you can do with these sweet little things and I couldn't decide what I wanted to do............well today I made a decision and mounted it on a board. I was busy all day painting and finishing up more laptop desks and candle shelves so while the paint was drying I ran to the shed and cut out the board and threw it on the paint table! Wish I could finish all projects that quickly!

I mounted it to the board with glue..........which I'm not a fan of glue at all......... not sure if it will stick or not!!! Any other suggestions on how to mount these on boards??? I really would appreciate some ideas!

A new Summertime Mouse!

A new mouse for Summer holding a slice of watermelon! Still using the Havest Mouse pattern by Soft in the Head to create a mouse for every season! I'm a little late getting him posted but with this nice weather I've had lots of yard work to do and my hubby has been busy in the woodshop which means sanding and painting for me! Can't wait to show you what he has been creating!

A couple of weeks ago I made a trip up to see my mom and we went shopping for fabric! This is one of the pieces I purchased and used for the pinkeep...........I just love the old time look of it!

A World Traveling Meerkat!

Heather from NiftyKnits, a member of the ETTEAM on Etsy that I belong to, creates some amazing hand knitted critters! Back in November she decided to send two meerkats out on a worldwide tour. Their creation and tour began in the United Kingdom! "Treasures" first stop was in Israel and "Etta" made her way to the USA! Etta is still making her way across the US but poor Treasure got lost somewhere between Estonia and Turkey. They are collecting souvenirs from all the homes she has visited and a lucky winner will receive the goodies and the meerkat at the end of the tour. So be sure to watch for sign-ups on Heathers blog and facebook to be entered into the Giveaway! You can follow their journey's on Heathers blog and facebook!
In order to keep the tour going Heather sent a third meerkat out named "Alchemy" and she arrived at my house, here in a cold PA, last week! It was a little bit of a temperature change from her last stop down South but she adjusted quite well! We are seeing some signs of Spring and warmer temperatures this week! She shared in my excitement of the daffodils poking up through the snow!

On Thursday we went to a wool shop with some friends and Etta had fun sitting in a pile of wool strips ready for rug hooking!

Here is a picture of the rug I've been hooking for sometime now!!! I won't tell you how many years but I'm determined to finish it up......... real soon!

We played a little Hide and Seek and I found her dancing in my collection of Nancy Ann Storybook dolls! Yesterday was a big day!!! She helped with a photo shoot of a new item for my Etsy Shop..... an antique reproduction of a Shaker writing desk! It seemed to take forever but we finally got it done and listed!Her she is playing "Where's Alchemy?" with some of her new friends in my workshop!
My son is home from college on Spring break and was in the wood shop working on the lathe. She was quite impressed with the really cute bowl he turned! I love the grain in this wood.... I think my husband said it was mulberry!I decided Alchemy needed a sleeping bag to help keep her comfy and warm on the rest of her journey! Here you can see the final stages of stitching the bag together! Here she is all warm and snugly in her new bag and ready to make her trip to Michigan! It's been a nice visit and I hate to see her go!

My hubby is back in the woodshop!!!!! He has been busy finishing up some orders and working on my long list of to do's! My time has been spent painting and staining in a cold garage! Can't wait until the weather warms up! Here are a few pictures of what we've been working on.

My first show is Country Memories Day in McVeytown, PA on May 29th so I really need to start building inventory!

A thrift store make-over! I found this cubby shelf in the Adams County mission and refinished it in red.

I should be finishing up some new laptop writing desks today which I'm real excited about. Hopefully I can share those with you by the end of the week!

The name of my shop is SnowmanCollector and if you have a look around you will see that the reason I chose that name is because I have developed a great love for all things Snowman!
2. How long have you been on Etsy?
I have been on Etsy only since April, 2009. I am fairly new but am learning more every day and loving it!
3. What type of items do you offer?
I offer mostly seasonal items ¡V stuffed snowmen, santas, ornies, etc. I also have a few wreaths and wallhangings mixed in to keep it interesting, both for those looking at my shop and for myself as a crafter.
4. How long have you been crafting?
I have been crafting for close to 20 years. I started doing quilting and things just kind of evolved. I started doing local craft shows about 10 years ago. What inspires me? Everything! There are so many ideas floating in my head, I will never do them all. Plus there are so many new things I want to learn, like rug hooking.

My this week has flown by! It was a snowy weekend here in our part of PA and when it finally stopped around lunch time on Saturday we had almost 2 feet! My muscles are a little sore today from all the shoveling but it sure is pretty!

My Etsy shop is Harvest Moon Prims....Nothing is prettier or more magical in Fall...than a big ole Orange Harvest Moon....So when I was thinking on a name for etsy...that came to mind...

Oh gosh ladies!!! If you are anywhere near Chambersburg, PA you must make a trip to WoolWorks located at 240 Grant St in Chambersburg! They are open Monday - Wednesday 10:00 to 4:00 and Thursday from 10:00 to 10:00! Come on a Thursday and bring whatever you are working on! You can sit, hook, chat and relax! It's so interesting to see eveyone's piece of work!
Linda the owner and Kathy are so helpful and sweet!!! They will answer all your questions and help with anything you need! You can find some of Kathy's work in her Etsy Shop and on her blog Rugs of Mine... In time.

One other sweet gal I meet was Joanne and you can see some of her work on her blog Snippets & Scraps of Mind! She travels over 2 hours to come to the shop!

Painted Kreations........chosen because I paint. The K in Kreations because of my name starting with a K and I wanted to be original.

Since February of 2008

I have handpainted items on a variety of surfaces. I paint in different styles, and also create and paint my own gingerbread designs.

Probably 25 years, more so in the last 10 years, being involved in craft shows and such.

We have a variety of items from home décor, primitives, vintage, fabric, quilts, pincushions, holiday, seasonal, handbags, heirloom items, etc.

4. How long have you been crafting?
I think I have been crafting all of my life. I learned a lot of sewing at a very early age by watching a dear lady sew clothing and curtains while she babysat me over the summer months. I also taught myself to knit in the car after visiting and watching a relative in North Carolina. On the way home to New Jersey, I had two rattail combs and some yarn that she gave me and I learned to knit during the long car ride home. I think I was about 9 or 10 at the time (I’m now 51!)

5. Who or What inspires you?
Fabric, fabric, fabric. I love the textures, colors, feel and flow. Also, lots of magazines and books (I’m a book hog!) and now I have the internet!!!!!!!!!

6. What is your favorite item in your shop and why?
I love my pincushions. There’s just something about them that make me happy. There is such a variety out there today and I want to have one of everything!!!

1. What is the name of your Etsy shop and why did you choose that name?
My etsy shoppe is called Icehousecrafts. I choose that name as when I started selling and buying online we lived in an old farmhouse of which was once an icehouse for the farm that we lived on. The walls in the icehouse part of the house were 24” thick stone. The farm was established in 1905.

2. How long have you been on Etsy?
I’ve been selling on etsy since February 2008.

3. What type of items do you offer?
Mostly on etsy I offer hand painted stenciled wood signs. I have also offered hand painted vintage pieces from time to time.

4. How long have you been crafting?
I’ve been doing crafts since I was a young girl...from crochet to macramé and finally to decorative painting. I’ve been painting fulltime since my middle son was a toddler so about 18 years for painting.

5. Who or What inspires you?
Customers are a great source for inspiration. They give you the framework for an idea and things just go from there.

6. What is your favorite item in your shop and why?
I have to say my favorite things in my etsy shoppe right now are my ouija board sign and wrong answer sign. The ouija board sign because as a young girl I was fascinated with “how” it worked. The wrong answer one, well it’s just obvious from looking at it as to why! LOL!

An Itsy Bitsy Creation and Monday Marketplace!

This summer I found these tiny food color jars at our church yard sale! I guess you could say I have a thing for little things! LOL I wasn't sure what I was going to do with them but yesterday I decided to fill them with this wonderful dried tansy! I wanted to keep the lids with the jars so I attached them to the top of the jar with hemp. The total creation stands about 3" to 2 1/2" tall!

WOW!!! Why do I start so many things at one time?!?! I'll never know! It seems to take forever to get anything done but when I do........it feels so good! New Cell Phone Necklaces!

I managed to finish some new cell phone necklaces for my last show which was on Saturday!

The weather was a little chilly, breezy and cloudy for the day but no rain!!! We had it all this year! The crowd was good and sales were about the same so I was a happy camper!

I actually took the time to walk around and check out the other booths! I think we were the only "handmade" primitive spot there and I had some nice compliments!

The week before I did a really small show at a Fall Gathering in Kings Gap State Park. It had lots of fun things for kids to do and in a really pretty location at the top of a small mountain.... actually is was a 4 mile winding narrow road to get to the top.

You could tell the people coming into my booth were not familiar with primitives. This one couple came into my booth and I heard the husband say to his wife....while looking at one of my wooden pieces....... "wow that must really be old". He turned around and asked me how old it was............ a little dumb founded I said "Awwww... two months" I then told him it was a reproduction, newly made by my husband and I painted it to look old! He was shocked and said I did a good job! LOL He was referring to the white one hanging here.

Hope all have enjoyed the short Fall season........at least here in PA it feels like winter already!!! I'm not looking forward to my son's football game on Saturday in the cold and damp weather! At least it is at 1:30 in the afternoon and not in the evening! Stay warm.........until next time!!! Have a great day!

Gearing up for a Fall Celebration with the OFG Etsy Team! On Saturday I will be listing 3 new Fall/Halloween "treasures" in my Etsy shop.

I created this Pumpkinhead Witch Doll using a pattern by Veena's Mercantile! I just love the design. She is wearing a fabric made candy corn around her neck and carries a bag of fresh cut Sweet Annie.

I made the mini 2 1/2" pumpkins from painted osnaburg, a stick, wire vine and some wool leaves. So cute for a shelf, cupboard or bowl.

The mouse sits proudly in an antique soap dish with 2 tiny little fabric made pumpkins and his "For Sale" sign.

Craft Show report!

Well............. the weather forecast was showing rain all day!!!!!!!!! Was not looking forward to setting up in the rain but fortunately it held off until around 10:00 or so! We were prepared so all went well. It didn't stop the customers from shopping! The sun did eventually come out in the afternoon but then it was very humid and hot! Don't know which was worse! Today it is chilly here in PA! Too bad this front didn't move in a couple of days earlier!

It was so nice to see all of you who stopped by to see me! It's so nice to meet online friends in person!

The wood toaster covers and the Halloween blocks were a big hit so I will need to be replacing some of those for my next show in October!

In the front left hand corner of the table are some of the bowls that my son turned on the lathe. He inherited his grandfathers old lathe and really enjoys using it.

My next show is October 10th so I have a few weeks to prepare which will be nice! Need to reorganize my craft room so I can find what I'm looking for...........it was getting pretty bad!

Preparing for Shippensburg Corn Festival!

Saturday is coming toooooooooooo fast!!! Today I'm finishing up some mice for the show and needed a break so I thought I would share a picture or two with you! I love these old funnels, vintage tumbler holders, baby shoes and old strainers.............the mice fit in them perfectly! I found this new angel twig too which I like working with.

Saturday looks like rain so hopefully everyone will grab a raincoat and umbrella and still come shopping! At least it won't be so hot like it usually is!

And I must stick a picture in here of my precious little Granddaughter Jillian!!! She is a tiny little bundle of joy!! It has been a busy 3 weeks!

Craft Show Pictures!

Here are a couple of pictures from the show on Saturday!

Around 3:00 we received word that 60 mile an hour winds and hail were headed out way! Yikes!!! That was scary! Needless to say we started packing up real quick!!! We were prepared so nothing was lost but it is such a pain packing up in the rain! It poured down rain for the next 2 hours but fortunately we did not have the wind and hail! Thank goodness someone was watching out for us! As we put the last piece of props into the truck and shut the tailgate the sun popped out!

Bright and early on Saturday morning my sister and I will be setting up for a show! It is being held at Caledonia State Park in Fayettville, PA. Located between Gettysburg and Chambersburg on Route 30! Here are some of my new "treasures" I will be selling!

Mini Cupboards using a print by Susan Burd for the door and a Box to hold CD's which I handpainted using a Kim Klassen design.

Prim Tin PinKeep & Wool Cell Phone Necklace

I added a zinc lid pinkeep to the top of a primmed up soup can with a grungy paper label. It makes a great way to store sewing items.

Also, added another cell phone necklace to my Etsy shop. This one is appliqued with coneflowers and a bee. Thanks to Sarah and Constance for these ideas as to what you can use it for..............business cards you are passing out while at a craft show or collecting as a customer, MP3 players, IPods. I'm sure you can think of more ideas........ let me know what you come up with!

I finally took the time to add some new items to my Etsy Shop! http://www.teresasprimtreasures.etsy.com/ I've been making some wool appliqued cell phone necklaces! The small digital cameras fit into them nicely also! I was tired of always digging through my purse for a ringing cell phone while out shopping or traveling! This is so nice to keep it right at your finger tips!

I used a purchased pattern by Heart to Hand to create it.

Also, I added a mustard colored wood toaster cover with the handpainted sheep on it. My husband was in the woodshed this past weekend and made the ones I needed for orders and I will be painting them tomorrow! So.......... for the girls that have ordered toaster covers you will be hearing from me soon!

It was a hot and humid day on Saturday for Country Memories Day but we survived!!! We had to pack up in a nice steady rain which made it real hot under the closed in tent............... but we stayed dry! Sales where higher than last year so that was very exciting and made it all worthwhile! Here are some pictures of our set up and some new items I've added this year.

Shopping from the Weekend at PrimMart Convention

What a weekend I had!!! So much fun meeting up with online friends that share the joy of crafting!!!

Our day started out with Michele from The Primitive Times E-Zine and I driving to Harrisburg to pick up Marie from Mamaw's Creations at the hotel. We then traveled to see Patti at her Brickhouse Crafts! We then went back to the hotel and picked up Kristal from Rags-N-Tags before making a stop at the Greyhound bus stop for NeeNee KrazyKraftLady. On to an antique store in Hummelstown. A huge place with 3 floors of wonderful treasures!

We spent time Friday night getting to know each other (most knew each other from past conventions) but I was a new one! Haven't done that much laughing in years and it felt sooooooooooo good!!!

On Saturday we traveled to Lancaster for the Day and hit lots of nice Primitive Shops.

Sunday morning was a trip to a huge flea market in Mechanicsburg and look what I found!!! Lots of dippers and baby shoes to put mice in. I was one happy camper!!!

Here is a picture of the girls I roomed with we..... the hotel was beautiful and had 2 bedrooms, a living room, full kitchen and 2 bathrooms! This picture was taken outside a nice shop by the Kitchen Kettle in Lancaster. Left to right starting in the front we have Marie, Kristal, Me and in the back is Michele and NeeNee!

I have a craft show on Saturday so I need to get back to work!!! Lots to finish up!! I will talk more about convention later!!!

Wooden Toaster Cover

WOW!!! Where did those weeks go? I can't believe it's been a month since I last posted. I really have been working on crafts but I also lost some time with a pulled muscle in my back! Sure glad that is over with!

My first craft show of the year is May 23rd................... so I'm busy trying to finish things up that I have started! It will be held in McVeytown, PA and it is called Country Memories Day.

Here is one of the toaster covers that my husband made a few weeks ago and I just now got around to painting it. I used a Kim Klassen design for the sheep!

Mice in Baby Shoes and My Swap from Bee Charmer Primitives!

I've been working on a bunch of mice and finally finished them up and started tucking them into anything I can find. I scoured some antique shops for baby shoes and lucked out one day finding all these. Two are in old jello molds and one is in an old strainer. I used real dried flowers in all of them............ even the little daisies are real drieds.

This is a wonderful sign I received from Bee Charmer Primitives in a Spring swap that I participated in with my Etsy team OFG! I just love it and it looks great hanging in my mudroom!

Tobacco Cloth Covers!

Last week I received the Tobacco Cloth that I had ordered and it has been setting here calling my name! I had to take a break from mice and do something with it! My crocks are getting a new look. It makes a great cover for just about anything. I also put some over an Atlas Special Mason jar which I filled with spanish moss, orange spice scented rosehips, orange slices, pods and a mini chick candy mold.

This jar is an old blue Ball Perfect Mason jar that I filled with a bunch of Sweet Annie, Broom Corn, wild berries and a stubby prim candle all tied together with a piece of the tobacco cloth. I did add some spanish moss to the bottom of the jar to kind of hold it all in place.

I also finished up some "Piggy's which I've been working on. I used a pattern by Kentucky Primitives to create this cute little guy. I did get one listed in my Etsy Shop http://www.teresasprimtreasures.etsy.com/w.teresasprimtreasures.etsy.com/ !

OFG Spring & Easter Celebrations!!!

Here are a few things I've been working on for Easter. The first is Carrotbottom Farms Rabbit which I created using a pattern by Sassafras Hill Primitives and the other rabbit is Snickerdy Rabbit Doll created with a pattern from Veenas Folk Art Primitive Designs. The Pinkeeps were designed by Bird In the Hand Primitives and I used some wonderful reproduction fabric designs from the Civil War Era! I've attached a nice antique Easter graphic to create the tags.

Snickerdy hold a bag of fabric painted flowers and Carrotbottom holds a fabric vintage graphic bag.

A Herd of Sheep!

I'd like to thank Judi for sending me this picture of her sheep collection! She ordered one of my real wool felted sheep a while back and he finally made it to his new home. She said she collected all kinds but I had no idea how many! She had her husband round them up from all areas of the house to pose for this picture. Mine is the dark one in the center front. OFG Spring Celebrations on Etsy!

I finally finished up some Spring creations for the Old Farmhouse House Gathering Celebration on Etsy! I think it begins February 26th but I will let you know for sure when the time comes! Lots of mice are still invading my home..... need to get a few cats made up! Anyway........... I have one in an old laddle, one in a terra cotta pot and one in a wooden box with a light. All of them have fabric flowers worked into the creation. Check out the tiny little bouquet of flowers in their hands. I will be listing the one on a pinkeep tonight but the rest need to wait until the OFG Spring Celebration begins.

My husband and I spent all day Saturday and Sunday afternoon in the woodshed! We have lots of new cupboards and chests in the works. Now all I need is a nice warm day to start painting! Until then.......................... I just listed this mini cupboard on Etsy. We used one of my favorite JH Williams print for the door and I painted it New England Red. Need to get back to work because I have lots more to finish up before hubby comes home from work!

A cure for the Winter Blues!

My mother is quite an inspiration! After raising 7 children.....I'm the oldest..... my mother and father begain a new hobby of collecting antiques. She has some beautiful antiques and primitives embracing her home to remind us of days gone by and simplicity. If you are ever in the Harrisburg area of Pennsylvania you must stop by and see Patti's cute little shop located at 1625 Route 209, Millersburg, PA 17061! Her entire inventory is from USA handmade crafters! Which includes some of my "treasures"! She and her husband Tim fixed up the old summer kitchen to their beautiful old farmhouse into this quaint little shop. Tim also makes her wooden items to paint. Here is a picture of the outside.......... look at that porch............. isn't it inviting..... makes you want to come for a visit and sit a spell?!?!?

Here are some shots of the inside. I love the blue cupboard that she uses for display. The orginal old fireplace is still there! In the Christmas corner she has an old piece of snow fence that looks so nice!

Not real fun to ship because of the terra cotta pot but so far no problems. I just added one pot to my Etsy shop and the others were ordered. They were made using a Sun Valley Primitives pattern. Oops.......... I forgot to put the carrot in each pot before I took the picture. Each pot comes with a carrot too.

Just added this new item to my Etsy Shop! I'm working on a pattern for this sneaky little guy too.

I had a customer want some bunnies in a terra cotta pot for her shop and this is what I came up with. The overall piece stands almost 14".

Here is a close up of the sunflowers which I really enjoyed creating. I will be making some of these to sell separately too. They are painted material mounted on a piece of rusty wire.

See how far behind I am........................... not really! Actually, I'm stocking up for my shows this year!!! I used a Soft In the Head pattern for these cute little guys! I hope to have mice for every season tucked in all my little spaces. This one sits proudly on a pumpkin holding a piece of candy corn.

First we have a "Valentine Mouse in a Pouch". It measures about 8" by 3" and is made from a coffee/vanilla stained osnaburg fabric. I love working with the wool appliques. On this one I have a double heart from red and black wool.

I also did one with my favorite flowers......... Coneflowers.............. appliqued with mustard, black and green wool. Tonight I will finish some up with appliqued stars on the pouch.

Rabbits Rabbits and more Rabbits!!!

It took 2 weeks but I finally finished up 12 of these bunnies! They are a whooping 30" tall with the ears standing up! They were ordered by 3 shops and I made one to put in my Etsy Shop. Right before I got the order for the bunnies I had cut out 2 penny rugs which laid on the table for the first week. I did manage to finish one of them this week too. Also, if you notice I have some really cute mice on a pumpkin mounted in a zinc lid between the bunnies. I need to add a candy corn to him before I post pictures. Well.......... back to work!!! More bunnies on the cutting table but no clothes to mess with....... these little guys are in a pot!

Mice are popping up everywhere!!!

I found some old looking graters at a show the other day and brought them home hoping I could come up with something to do with them. This is what I came up with............ mice seem to be popping up in anything so I decided to put him in a wool made tulip and attach it to the shredder. He is now listed in my ETSY shop http://www.teresasprimtreasures.etsy.com/ . I'm also working on a Sunflower and putting one in an old China teacup!
